Westport Farmers Market: Imperial Lot
Originally conceived by Paul Newman and Michael Nischan, The Westport Farmers Market has been located in the Imperial lot since 2009. A highly regarded asset of the community, WFM has only grown in popularity, and while this location has been ideal for them in many ways, it lacks certain key amenities and potential fixturing to take it to the next level, and on par with other established farmers markets in similar communities.
The WFM has taken the initiative to draw up an initial design vision that would provide key upgrades, maintain and improve parking access and capacity during non-market times, and accommodate a continued itinerant use by the Remarkable Theater drive-in.
Key elements of this may include:
Covered Structure
A covered structure for the market that may allow for covered parking during non-market times.
Piped-In Water Access
For cleaning and other purposes.
Some Storage and Pubic Bathroom Facilities
Enhance River Edge & Extend Riverwalk
Additionally, there could be the opportunity to enhance the river edge surrounding the area to provide for benches or picnic tables, as well as a potential extension of the riverwalk pathway.
